Do you have a bad habit you want to break, but simply can’t do it? Maybe you want to lose weight, and you’ve tried a diet or going to the gym, but nothing seems to stick. That’s because you aren’t focused on sustainable change.
If you have habits that don’t work for you, it’s not enough to focus on the behaviour and try to change the behaviour. With discipline and patience, you might have some success for a while. If the change feels like a chore and is painful and uncomfortable, it’s only a matter of time before you revert back to your old ways.
So how do you make sustainable change? If you want to change something, you need to examine the framework that is holding it together. If you don’t know what that framework is, it will always be there in the background sabotaging you. Changing the outer game without changing the inner game is difficult. In order to make lasting changes in your life, you have to work on the inside before you can work on the outside.
In this video James Hayes, Director of Coaching and Public Trainings here at The Coaching Room, will take you through:
- Understanding sustainable change
- The reason simple changing a behaviour doesn’t work
- Identifying the framework behind our behaviours
- Changing the inner game prior to changing the outer game
